FAQ About Film Simulation Recipes For Fujifilm

What are Fujifilm film simulation recipes?

Fujifilm film simulation recipes are custom settings that adjust color, tone, and contrast inside the camera. They’re based on Fujifilm’s built-in film simulations and are designed to create unique looks that resemble classic film stocks.

Most recipes are made for X-Trans IV and X-Trans V cameras, such as the X-T4, X100V, X100VI, X-T5, and X-E5. Older Fujifilm cameras may not include all the same settings, but some recipes can still be adapted.

You can enter the settings manually in your camera’s Image Quality menu and save them to a custom preset (C1–C7). Once saved, you can switch between recipes quickly, just like changing film rolls in a 35mm camera.

Not unless you want to. Many photographers shoot JPEG-only with recipes and skip editing altogether. Recipes are designed to deliver film-like images straight out of camera.

Most of the film simulation recipes on ShutterGroove are created by Ivanyolo, who experiments with Fujifilm cameras to recreate the look of classic 35mm film, cinematic tones, and vintage colors. Each recipe is tested on real-world shoots—from street photography to portraits—so you can apply them directly on your Fujifilm camera and get consistent results straight out of camera.
